Nolan is known for nonlinear storytelling, intellectual sci‑fi and thriller concepts, and a strong preference for practical effects and large-format film (especially IMAX) over heavy CGI. He often collaborates with the same crew and composers (notably Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Göransson) and writes many of his own scripts, frequently with his brother Jonathan Nolan. In 2024 he was knighted, becoming Sir Christopher Nolan, in recognition of his contributions to film.
